British Prime Minister (PM) Rishi Sunak made an impromptu trip to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. He then pledged 125 anti-aircraft guns and other air defense technologies during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The $60 million air defense package was awarded after Russia destroyed Ukraine's power grid and other key infrastructure from the air.
This caused widespread power outages for millions of Ukrainians as the frigid winter drew near. The package includes radar and other technology to counter Iranian-supplied drones that Russia has used to destroy Ukrainian targets.
The aid comes on top of a shipment of more than 1,000 anti-air missiles Britain announced earlier this month. Britain has been one of the most staunch supporters of the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion. The country is noted to have given Kiev $2.7 billion (Rp42.3 trillion) in military aid.
