Not Just Research, China Installs Underwater Acoustic Devices In The Arctic Ocean

Under the pretext of carrying out underwater research activities, China has carried out transoceanic exploration far from its territory. Even though it was carried out in international waters, it is no doubt that what Beijing has done has worried the United States and its allies, namely regarding China's intelligence efforts to detect and monitor the movements of US submarines.

After research efforts carried out in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, China has since 2021 begun exploring underwater research in the US' "back yard", namely in the Arctic ocean. For the record, the Arctic ocean, located in the northern hemisphere and mostly in the Arctic region of the North Pole, is the smallest and shallowest of the five oceans in the world.

What China is doing in the Arctic region is deploying what it calls 'Listening Devices.' Although China's territory is not directly linked to the Arctic ocean, Beijing has declared its intention to become a major power in the Arctic by 2030. The Arctic Ocean so far borders Russia , United States, Canada, Norway, and Denmark – the so-called Arctic Circle.

The South China Morning Post recently broadcast a report about China attempting to deploy an acoustic device in the Arctic after successfully testing and evaluating its underwater listening device.

The report cites a study published in the Chinese Journal of Polar Research which says: “Acoustic information collected by planned large-scale listening networks can be used in a variety of applications, including subglacial communication, navigation and positioning, target detection. and reconstruction of marine environmental parameters.”

“That is for scientific purposes, but all such things serve a dual purpose,” said an Indian expert on the Arctic region. Observers of the Arctic region feel that acoustic instruments play an important role in understanding climate change in the Arctic because oceanographic data from the Arctic Ocean, particularly from the deep sea, are scarce.

But the data can also be used to track submarine movements and understand marine ecosystems to chart new routes – both below and above the surface.

The Shanghai-based Polar Research Institute of China is currently conducting research at the poles with several instruments, but most importantly a vector hydrophone with multiple sensors arranged in different orientations to measure pressure and the motion of sound wave particles.

The world above 66 degrees latitude has remained difficult for most of human existence, hindering large-scale trade. Explorers, speculators, and scientists have long believed that a rich treasure trove of resources and shipping routes is hidden beneath the Arctic ice and snow. But deathly cold, debilitating darkness and great distances have hindered any exploitation of the resource.

However, the unknown depths of the North Pole were soon charted, making their navigation a breeze sooner rather than later.

The agency emphasized that because the region is sensitive to climate change, sound pressure data can be used to track whales, seals and other sound-producing sources. The horizontal and vertical vibrations of water particles can help scientists understand ocean conditions such as currents, waves and the ocean floor.

During the test, the Chinese research institute used American communications satellite services. However, China's polar listening network will likely turn to the BeiDou satellite for communications.

Countries around the world are struggling to strengthen their foothold in the polar regions as global warming rapidly melts the polar ice caps, changing the environment drastically. Mutual distrust is driving the world's great powers to increase their civilian and military involvement in the North Pole.

The 10-year Arctic Strategy released by the White House in 2022 calls for deterring increased Russian and Chinese activity in the region.

Russia has since 2013 updated and activated hundreds of Soviet-era bases in the region. The US said that Russia is implementing new air and coastal defense missile systems and upgrading submarines, and increasing military exercises and training operations with a new combat command equivalent to the Arctic.

Russia is far ahead in its goal of strengthening Arctic navigation. It currently has 51 icebreakers compared to five functioning ships in the US. Given that China does not have direct access to the Arctic region, it is highly likely that China's intelligence mission in the North Pole will utilize Russian facilities. (Bayu Pamungkas)

Bukan Sekedar Riset, Cina Pasang Perangkat Akustik Bawah Air Di Samudra Arktik

(Bayu Pamungkas)

New Level of US-China Conflict, Dangerous Accusations About Hot Air Balloons

New Level of US-China Conflict, Dangerous Accusations About Hot Air Balloons.

The recent accusations sent from the US to China are downright dangerous, which could bring more uncertainty to the already strained bilateral relationship, Chinese analysts told Chinese state media Global Times.
China urged the US to be more sincere about improving relations with China than taking provocative actions, especially after images of white balloons made headlines in the US and some Western countries on Friday.
That's because Pentagon officials claimed that a Chinese spy balloon hovering over Montana this week had a flight path spying on "sensitive sites" in the US.

Pentagon: CENTCOM Find Ships Loaded with Weapons & Ammunition Heading to Yemen in Gulf of Oman
A spokesperson from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that the balloon did indeed belong to China but denied that the blimp had a spy function, that the blimp was for meteorological research purposes. The Chinese side regrets the accidental entry into US airspace due to force majeure, and will continue to communicate with the US side and properly deal with these unexpected situations caused by force majeure, the spokesman said.

The balloons – the size of three buses, flew at an altitude "well above commercial air traffic and presented no military or physical threat to people on the ground," Brig. General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters at a news conference, the Washington Post reported. The sighting of a hot air balloon that the US accuses of being a Chinese spying tool. Before clarifying the facts, the US military and media accused China of espionage, and this incident has inflamed the US's recent situation regarding the "China threat" to a new level, with some Chinese analysts saying the statements lacked any real evidence.

The accusations leveled could bring new tensions to Sino-US relations, as they are a follow-up to more intensive US moves to contain China in the military, technology and diplomacy fields as well as on issues of major concern to China, including on the island of Taiwan. .
The series of US actions against China were also accompanied by news from the US that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken would visit China on February 5 and 6. China has yet to confirm Blinken's visit, although a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson previously welcomed him.

Taiwan Can Beat China If The US and Japan Get Together

Taiwan Can Beat China If The US and Japan Get Together

WASHINGTON - A simulation run by the think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has determined that Taiwan will emerge victorious if faced with a Chinese invasion in 2026.
However, this victory assumes that Taipei will receive military support from the United States (US) and Japan.
Even that victory, if it did come, would come at a high cost in the three or four weeks of fighting that was expected to ensue.
The results of the war simulation released on Monday (9/1/2023) were carried out using historical and operational research. The model is run 24 times.
Dozens of ships, hundreds of planes and tens of thousands of troops will be lost on all sides of the potential war.
There are also scenarios in the simulation, though rare, where China comes out on top.
According to CSIS, Taiwan must survive and the US must have access to bases in Japan for Taiwan to win.

The group is also running a scenario in which Taiwan does not receive direct military support from Japan and the United States.
In that scenario, China comes out on top. Unlike the situation in Ukraine, the United States will not be able to pump weapons into Taiwan and China will easily isolate the island.
Japan is not committed to defending Taiwan in a potential war with the mainland. However, last year he decided to increase his military capabilities, moving from a "defence only" force to a more substantial force.
The simulation model also noted that war would be disastrous for all countries involved, and that was without considering the possibility of using nuclear weapons.
China has the world's third largest nuclear stockpile while the United States ranks second.
Any potential prolonged nuclear conflict between the two powers would devastate the world and make Taiwan the best of afterthoughts.
While the CSIS simulation model predicts Taiwan will win in most scenarios with the support of the United States, it acknowledges that China may look at the military situation from a different light.
“While our analysis suggests that the United States and Taiwan will win and suffer heavy casualties, it is conceivable that China views it differently,” CSIS International Security Program senior adviser Mark Cancian told The Hill Tuesday (10/1/2023).
"That's why we recommend increasing deterrence so we don't get into this situation in the first place," he said.
While Cancian takes a firm stance on funding Taiwan, he insists the study does not presume that the United States must defend Taiwan with direct military action.
Instead, he said, his aim was to highlight how costly such wars can be.
It should also be noted that CSIS is a notoriously pro-war think tank, and has been funded by weapons manufacturers and defense contractors.

Chinese Aircraft Carrier "Fujian" Prepares for Sea Trial This Year, Challenges US Ocean Domination

Chinese Aircraft Carrier "Fujian" Prepares for Sea Trial This Year, Challenges US Ocean Domination.
Thursday, January 05, 2023.

After being officially launched on June 17 2022, China's third aircraft carrier, Type 003 Fujian, is reportedly now in the preparation stage to start sea trials this year. Fujian is China's largest and most advanced warship to date. Fujian's presence is part of an important step in President Xi Jinping's grand plan to upgrade the military and close the military technology gap with the United States.
Since launch, currently Fujian is being prepared at Jiangnan Shipyard near Shanghai, simultaneous mooring trials started in September 2022 to shorten the delivery period to the Chinese Navy. The fit-out phase, which occurs after launch and before sea trials, sees the carrier preparing for delivery and marks the end of construction.
Quoted from the South China Moring Post, the systems on board, ranging from mechanical equipment to propulsion power, are tested during mooring tests to see how effectively they function independently and collectively.
President Xi Jinping mentioned on December 31, 2022, that Fujian is expected to have a significant presence in the Taiwan Strait. China's third aircraft carrier is claimed to be comparable to the USS Gerald R. Ford, the only other warship with a state-of-the-art electromagnetic catapult.

In contrast to the ski-jump designs of the first and second Chinese carriers – Liaoning and Shandong, Fujian has advanced EMALS (Advanced Electromagnetic Launch System) electromagnetic catapults. Therefore, the Chinese Navy had to learn new procedures for launching and recovering aircraft.
Fujian looks equipped with a tower (island) that adopts a semi-stealth design. As for weapons, Fujian can be seen that one of them is equipped with a seven-barrel CIWS (Close In Weapon System) quick reaction canon of 30 mm caliber - Type 730.
Fujian is a conventionally powered aircraft carrier with displacements in the range of 85000 – 100000 tonnes. Although China is known to be developing a stealth fighter jet that will operate on aircraft carriers (Shenyang J-35), it is believed that the ultimate weapon that Fujian can release is still the Shenyang J-15 Flying Shark fighter jet.
Xi Jinping further added that he sincerely hopes that citizens on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will work together and have the same goal of contributing to the long-term prosperity of the Chinese nation. (Sapto Wahono)

Xi Jinping's Arrival to Saudi Arabia Is A Huge Blow To Destroy US Hegemony

Xi Jinping's Arrival to Saudi Arabia Is A Huge Blow To Destroy US Hegemony
December 8, 2022.

ISLAMTODAY ID- Chinese President Xi Jinping traveled to Saudi Arabia for three days since December 7 at the invitation of Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The visit comes against a backdrop of continuing tensions between Beijing and Riyadh and Washington on the other.
The following is an estimate of the results of the visit, as reported by Sputniknews, Wednesday (7/12/2022).
  Great Host Deals?
Saudi news outlets reported hopes of signing a series of agreements worth more than $29 billion during Xi Jinping's visit to Riyadh.
The agreements include those related to energy and infrastructure.
According to the outlet, in addition to more than 20 preliminary agreements that will be signed on the sidelines of the Sino-Saudi summit.

In addition, it is hoped that Beijing and Riyadh will also be able to sign a document on strategic partnerships, as well as agree on a "harmonization" plan between the two countries' long-term programs, including the Saudi "Vision-2030" program and China's "One Belt - One Road" initiative.
The summit between the Chinese president and the Saudi King will also be attended by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
As for Xi's travel agenda to Saudi Arabia, it also includes the Arab-China summit on cooperation and development, as well as the Arab-China meeting with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) consisting of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Arabic (UAE).
'Double Impact' in the US
Some experts believe that the visit of the Chinese president to Saudi Arabia can be considered a double blow for the US, which is trying to dictate its terms to the global energy market.
Experts are of the opinion that the visit is touted as a significant event that transcends the current oil price situation.

This is because Xi will meet not only Saudi Arabian leaders, but also senior officials from Persian Gulf countries – at the meeting where “new relations between China and the Arab world” as well as Beijing and the international oil and gas community will be discussed.
According to some analysts, the fact of this encounter is “epoch-making and revolutionary” – a sign they believe indicates that a new world order is becoming more real.
Experts add that Washington has long tried to prevent Xi from visiting Riyadh, but without success.
According to them, the fact that the visit will take place reflects China's growing international influence.
Washington Vs Beijing tensions, Riyadh
Xi is traveling to Saudi Arabia as Washington's tensions with Riyadh and Beijing show no sign of letting up.
In October, US President Joe Biden warned that there would be "consequences" for Saudi Arabia for its move to cut oil production earlier that month, but declined to elaborate on what steps he might take.
In early October, the OPEC+ group of oil producers, which includes Saudi Arabia and Russia, announced that it had agreed to cut oil production by two million bpd from November and would take the agreed production levels for August as a reference point.
The move was made in response to the uncertain outlook for global oil markets, caused in part by Western sanctions on Russian energy shipments and a G7 plan to introduce price caps on Russian crude.
Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry rejected claims that the oil cuts were "politically motivated against the United States" or that the Saudis were "taking sides" in the Ukraine conflict.
The Saudis stressed that the decision was made unanimously by OPEC+ members and that the move was "based purely on economic considerations."
For your information, US-China relations deteriorated after the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, visited Taiwan in early August.
Beijing denounced Pelosi's trip as a gesture of support for separatism, launching large-scale military exercises around Taiwan.
However, several countries, including France, the United States, Japan and others, have sent their delegations to the island since then, further increasing tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
Although the US does not enjoy formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, Washington has a representative office in Taipei, remaining the island's largest supplier of military hardware.
Beijing regards the island as an integral part of the PRC, adhering to a policy of peaceful reunification under the “One China – Two Systems” model.

China is crazy. Production of the J 20 Mighty Dragon is boosted to 1,000...

China Production of the J-20 Mighty Dragon is boosted to 1000 units.
Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

China has accelerated production of its Mighty Dragon, J-20 stealth fighter jet at the country's leading manufacturing facility to match US air power technology in the region.
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is using a "world-class" production line to speed up deliveries of its advanced fighter jets, a Chinese military insider and defense expert, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Sunday.
"The J-20 production increase is aimed at balancing the increased deployment of the United States' dominant air superiority aircraft, the F-22, and another fifth-generation stealth fighter, the F-35, to the region," a military insider said.
"The implementation of new production lines and domestic engines has pushed the number of J-20s to equal, or even exceed, the number of US F-22 Raptors."

Based on the serial and operational numbers written on the planes on display at this month's airshow in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, previous estimates suggest that China may have built at least 200 J-20s.
Serial numbers written on two of the four J-20s on display at the air show reveal that the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, the aircraft's developer, has delivered at least 140 units in its newest blocks, the third and fourth, US Defense News previously claimed. this month, citing military aviation expert Andreas Rupprecht.
The deployment of more than 100 US F-35s to Japan and South Korea in 2017 is claimed to have led to the induction of the J-20 in the PLA.

An aircraft can be put together using a production line once it reaches the final assembly stage, which requires the accurate assembly of large structural components and flight control systems, including the cockpit, engines, wings, tail, landing gear, and weapons. system.
According to Lockheed Martin, the fact that the standard electronic pairing and alignment system stations are all arranged vertically with a movable platform makes completion possible.

AMERICAS WORRY ABOUT CHINESE NUCLEAR BALLISTIC MISSILES PROGRAM TO MANUF...

China Will Upgrade Its Nuclear Warheads To 1500.
Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

China is expanding its nuclear force and is on track to nearly quadruple the number of warheads it has by 2035, rapidly closing its gap with the United States (US). That was the sound of the Pentagon report released Tuesday local time.
In its report, the Pentagon said China's nuclear arsenal was set to more than triple to 1,500 nuclear warheads. The report also highlighted the increasing sophistication of the country's air force.
Washington has identified Beijing as its most important challenge to the US, and its annual report on China's military emphasizes increasing its nuclear and conventional forces.
"The Department of Defense estimates (China's) operational nuclear warhead stockpile has exceeded 400," the report said.

"If China continues its pace of nuclear expansion, it will likely have a stockpile of around 1,500 warheads by 2035," the report continued.
But that figure still lags behind the arsenals of the US and Russia, which each have several thousand nuclear warheads.
China is also working to modernize its ballistic missiles that can deliver nuclear weapons, launching some 135 in tests during 2021. According to the report, the number exceeds the number of similar tests from around the world combined but excluding those fired in conflicts.
"And Beijing's air force is making strides, quickly catching up with Western air forces," the report said.
A senior US defense official, speaking before the report's release, said China's air force was trying to advance quickly on all fronts, including on operated equipment as well as pilots and other personnel.
The report also takes aim at the way China is using its military in the Indo-Pacific region, saying that China has adopted more coercive and aggressive actions.
That is especially the case around Taiwan, the self-governing democratic island that Beijing claims as its own.

A visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in August angered China, which reacted with the largest and most aggressive drills around the island since the 1990s.
Both sides have agreed to lower the temperature. But a senior US defense official said while Chinese military activity around Taiwan has decreased, it is still higher than before.
"Beijing established a kind of new normal in terms of the level of military activity around Taiwan following the speaker's visit," the official said.
"While we do not see an imminent invasion, clearly, the higher level of intimidation and coercion activity around Taiwan is a source of concern," the official added.
