Thursday, 03-11-2022.

The government is exploring cooperation with the Russian company Irkut Corporation to produce the Yak-130 fighter jet. Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko received a visit from the Director General of Irkut Corporation Andrey Boginskiy at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. The meeting discussed the possibility of cooperation between Irkut and PT Dirgantara Indonesia. "The Yak-130 is a light combat training aircraft that is good for our air force and it is very possible to investigate this matter through cooperation with PT Dirgantara Indonesia," said Moeldoko in a written statement, Thursday (3-11-2022).

Moeldoko said the market for the Yak-130 is not only in Indonesia. He projects that the fighter jets could be sold to a number of countries in Southeast Asia. According to the former TNI Commander, the Yak-130 has a good reputation. He said the fighter jet has a light weight and is equipped with a good control system. Moeldoko said that Indonesia was always open to cooperation with various countries. The government is also open to cooperation in producing the Yak-130. "Referring to the needs of the defense sector, the Presidential Staff Office supports and is ready to bridge the framework of cooperation that will be explored, later the end of the assessment will be in the policy of the Ministry of Defense," he said. At the same time, Andrey thanked KSP for the support. He said this project would benefit Indonesia.

"The cooperation scheme between Indonesia and Irkut Corporation will effectively support the national economy because it can create jobs and contribute to Indonesia's income," he said.
Referring to the United Aircraft Corporation website, the Yak-130 is a fighter jet designed for training and combat. This jet has two seats that can be used for basic and advanced pilot training.
The jet features a classic monoplane design with swept wings and an all-movable horizontal tail. The aircraft has an angle of attack of up to 35 degrees thanks to extensions in the wings.
Several Southeast Asian countries have used the Yak-130. They are Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
